Applications for admission

I.            Documentation required for all applicants

1. 2 copies of application forms

2. Two 2-inch bust photos attached to the application forms

3. The following evidence of Application Fee:

           Receipt of Telegraphic Transfer

(1)    Receipt of ROC postal remittance

(Remittance Information: Account No. : 22392971, Account Name: National Taichung University)

(2)    Receipt of Telegraphic Transfer

Application fee for : Undergraduate program – NT$1,200 (US$50)

 Master program NT$1,500 (US$60)

 Doctoral program NT$3,000 (US$120)

            (Applicants should pay the remittance fee by themselves.)

           (Please note that applications will not be processed unless accompanied by the application fee.)

4. A copy of passport or ID

5. A copy of diploma of the highest academic degree

6. A copy of Chinese or English translation of the diploma and a copy of the academic transcript, authenticated by ROC representative offices abroad

7. A certified copy of the Chinese or English language Proficiency

8. Chinese or English autobiography and resume.

9. A research proposal (for Master or Doctoral program)

10. A copy of financial statement, authenticated by ROC representative offices abroad

11. Self-addressed envelope for delivery of the notification (No postage is required)

 

※The above-mentioned term “ROC representative offices abroad” means ROC embassies, consulates, representative offices, trade offices or other agencies authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of ROC.

※Unless otherwise specified, application documents submitted shall not be returned.

The above documents should be arranged in the order according to the check list

Do not put documents in a binder or folder.

Application Deadline: International students are allowed to enroll in Fall (September) semester. Applications for Fall semester by April 30 (All applicants have to mail in before the deadline).

If you want to apply for the Department of Fine Art and Music, or PhD degree of Department of Education, you have to hand in more document listed above:

□Department of Fine Art

1. Autobiography which describe detail about personal art learning experience and future goal.1,000 wordsthree copies

2. WorkInformation of personal creative work: 8 pieces of art work, which be made at least by 2 different materials. (Present on 10"*8" photos to hand in)

3. Those work should be manifested by the instructors.  

□Department of Music

1. Autobiography which describe detail about personal music learning experience and future goal.1,000 wordsthree copies

2. Work for majorA CD or DVD of personal performance for 30 minutes. For students major in theory composer should hand in CD or DVD of personal performance and the notation/music book of it for at least three performances. (Three copies)

3. Work for minorA CD or DVD of personal performance for 10 minutes. For students minor in theory composer should hand in CD or DVD of personal performance and the notation/music book of it for at least one performance. (Three copies)

4. Should major or minor piano as one instrument.

5. Those work should be manifested by the instructors.

□PhD degree of Department of Education

1. Three copies of transcript in Master’s degree.

2 Autobiography (within 1,500 words, three copies)

3. Research plan for Doctorate Degree (three copies)

4. Master's thesis or equivalent academic works (three copies)

5. Three other Education published academic works or representative work (Three copies)

6. A certified copy of the Chinese language Proficiency if not having the Bachelor or Master’s degree in Taiwan.

 

III.       Miscellaneous

1.

The admission of international students to NTCU is conducted in compliance with Ordinance No. 0950088554C issued by the Ministry of Education (MOE) on June22, 2006, subject to any changes that may come into effect by the last day of application.

2.

International students admitted to NTCU shall be revoked of their admission and/or dismissed from NTCU if any of the following terms is violated:

 

1)

Students who do not possess ROC nationality shall apply for admission to NTCU in the capacity of either an overseas Chinese or a foreigner, but NOT in both capacities.

 

2)

Students who are ex-ROC citizens shall not apply for admission to an ROC college or university as international students within eight years after their ROC nationality is denied.

 

3)

International students who are admitted to an ROC college or university but later dismissed by the college of university shall not seek admission to another program of study in the same capacity.

 

4)

NTCU Students whose study is being suspended shall not apply for admission to the same program of study in the same department/institute.

Students can apply for admission to only one department/institute. Wherever applicable, the applicants should take the written tests, interview, and/or technical tests as specified by each department/institute concerned. The original copy of passport or other identification(s) should be presented at the test.

4.

Diplomas and transcripts issued by schools overseas are subject to review in accordance with the Ministry of

Education’s Code Governing the Review of Overseas Educational Qualifications.

5.

Students should possess basic skills in Chinese or English. Wherever required by the related department/graduate institute, or take additional Chinese courses before being fully admitted.

6.

Students who have submitted the application shall not by any means request to change the department/institute and program being applied for, or for a refund of the application fee.

7.

International students admitted to NTCU shall be revoked of their admission and/or dismissed from NTCU if any defect is found in the applicants’ qualifications for application or in the authenticity of the documents submitted. Those who have graduated shall have their diploma revoked.

IV.      Registration

    1. Admitted students shall be present at the university for registration on the date specified by presenting the original copy of passport, diploma, and the Chinese or English translation of school transcripts authenticated in ROC representative offices abroad (for authentication purpose only, will be returned immediately), or the status of admission shall be revoked. Those who have not had their documents authenticated by the time of application shall present the authenticated documents to the Office of Academic Affairs, within one month after the application result is announced, or the status of admission shall be revoked. Applicants who are going to graduate in the end of this school year shall have the documents reviewed by the Office of Academic Affairs before registration, or the status of admission shall be revoked. 

    2. The admitted students should, following Article 22 of “MOE Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan”, provide proof of medical and personal accidental insurance papers insured outside ROC with validity from entering ROC up to at least six months upon enrollment. If already being insured at the national health insurance of ROC, the enrolled students only need to provide proof of the related insurance papers. The above-mentioned insurance papers issued outside ROC should be verified by ROC representative offices abroad.

    3. Transfer credits from other colleges/universities shall be governed by related regulations of NTCU.
